Dieter Affeln, MD MPH

Dr. Affeln is a board certified occupational physician. His focus is on direct patient care, including care of acute injuries, illnesses, exposures, fitness for duty and independent medical evaluations, and return to work assessments. He is the medical director and medical review officer for OEHN. In this role he supports several occupational and employee health offices in the bio pharm/chemical industry, public safety and community hospitals. In addition he is the Chief of the Rehab division and medical director of the occupational health clinic at BID Needham. Dr. Affeln has worked 20 years in occupational medicine.
Lisa Anastos, MA, Esq.

Lisa has over 26 years of experience in the managed care industry. Her areas of expertise are workers compensation and disability. She has extensive experience and knowledge as a former case manager and vocational expert in the New England region, and has developed hundreds of individual written rehabilitation plans for injured workers under the guidelines of the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents Office of Educational and Vocational Rehabilitation. Her past experience included working as Health Care Advisor, Disability Medical Consultant, Bill Review Medical Consultant, and Senior Cost Recovery Analyst in private insurance industry. Manijeh Berenji, MD

Dr. Berenji is a board-certified Occupational Medicine Physician with keen interest in muscuskeletal care. She has trained at University of Michigan and UCSF. She started her career as junior faculty in the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine where she still serves as an Assistant Consulting Professor. Prior to starting at Boston Medical Center in June 2017, she spent time in healthcare consulting, working at a regional employee benefits firm in North Carolina.

As President of CC Well-Being, Inc., Cynthia works with insurance companies, and benefit brokers’ clients as well as private and non-profit organizations specializing in the integration of safety, occupational health and well-being through onsite, telephonic and app health coaching. She is the Founder of the SHRM Chapter of the GMVHRA Wellness Committee, and currently holds a position on the Board of Directors as VP of Membership. Nicholas S. Chrissis, Esq.
Nick joined TKCK as an associate attorney in 2013. Nick primarily handles workers’ compensation cases and he also assists with the firm’s Civil Litigation and General Liability Practice Group. Nick has extensive experience in the insurance industry. Prior to coming to TKCK, he worked at Travelers Insurance as both a Return to Work Case Manager in the Construction Market and an Investigative Case Manager. In addition to handling claims at Travelers, Nick mentored and trained new employees. He also regularly appeared for Travelers at the DIA for conciliations. He earlier worked for Cambridge Integrated Services. Nick graduated from University of Massachusetts School of Law with his Juris Doctor in 2013, and from Salve Regina University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 2007. While attending law school, Nick was a Dean’s Fellow and tutor to first and second year students. Nick is an active member of the MA Bar Association and frequently lectures to insurers and employers on workers’ compensation matters. Dr. Comeau is an assistant professor in family medicine and serves as both medical director of Boston University Sports Medicine and director of the Boston University primary care sports medicine fellowship. He attended medical school at UNECOM in Biddeford, ME. Dr. Comeau completed his family medicine residency at Tufts University, where he was administrative chief resident. He then went on to complete a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Wake Forest University. Dr. Comeau joined the family medicine department at Boston Medical Center in July 2007 and currently practices at the Ryan Center for Sports Medicine at Boston University seeing patients of all ages and athletic abilities. Letitia Davis, for over 30 years, was Director of the Occupational Health Surveillance Program in the Massachusetts Department of Public Health where she continues today as a senior scientist. As director she worked to develop state-based surveillance systems for work-related illnesses and injuries. She oversaw development of the Massachusetts Occupational Lead Registry, a comprehensive surveillance system for fatal occupational injuries, the Massachusetts Sharps Injury Surveillance System, a surveillance system for work-related asthma, a model surveillance system for work-related injuries to young workers, and case-based surveillance and follow-up of work-related amputations, burns and acute chemical poisonings. She has conducted numerous surveillance research studies exploring use of existing public health data sources to document work-related injuries and illnesses, including for example, a project incorporating occupational information in the electronic records systems of community health centers to improve documentation occupational health needs of underserved worker populations. She was also responsible for the development of prevention initiatives to address identified occupational health problems and advises the Department leadership on matters of occupational health policy. From 1998 through 2015 she was a lead consultant in occupational health to the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, working on the national level to promote integration of occupational health into public health practice in the states. She is a past member of the Board of Scientific Counselors of NIOSH and the Advisory Committee to the Directorate of Construction in OSHA.. She has also served on a number of National Academy committees, including most recently a panel on smart occupational health surveillance in the 21st century. Dr. Davis received her doctorate in Occupational Health from the Harvard School of Public Health in 1983.

Michael Erdil, MD, FACOEM, is a board certified occupational medicine physician with Occupational and Environmental Health Network in Marlborough MA; and an Assistant Clinical Professor at UConn Health Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Dr. Erdil has been a contributor to several evidence based treatment guidelines for low back and musculoskeletal disorders including the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Official Disability Guidelines, UpToDate and Dynamed Plus. He has lectured widely (including ACOEM / AOHC, NECOEM, Harvard School of Public Health OM Grand Rounds and Ergonomics and Human Factors Conferences, UConn Health, CT Dept. of Public Health Opioid Crisis and Connecticut Workforce Symposium, MA Medical Society Opioid Forum) about the importance of evidence based care in the management of low back pain and musculoskeletal disorders. Hon. Sabina T. Herlihy is an Administrative Judge at the Department of Industrial Accidents appointed by Governor Deval Patrick in July, 2013. She is a graduate of Regis College (B.A. 1981) and Suffolk University Law School (J.D. 1988). She was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1988 and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts in 1989. From 1989 to 2000, she served as an adjunct faculty member of Suffolk University and as a guest lecturer at MCLE while working for a small personal injury firm in Boston representing injured employees and later a Fortune 100 company. In 2000, Judge Herlihy taught high school Spanish at Westwood High School until 2003 when she opened her own law firm in Walpole, Massachusetts where she concentrated on workers’ compensation and employment law. In her practice, Judge Herlihy counseled both employers and employees on various issues including non-competition agreements, severance agreements, confidentiality agreements, wrongful terminations and employee manuals. Kenneth A Larsen, DMin, ABMP

Dr. Larsen is a clinical psychologist in the Department of Medicine at New England Baptist Hospital. He is also the Director of Clinical Pastoral Education and Counseling. For the past nineteen years he has utilized innovative treatment approaches in caring for patients suffering from catastrophic occupational injuries and workplace violence, as well as in the management of chronic pain.
For many years he has also been involved in sport psychology as the Baptist has often provided medical management of elite athletes who visit Boston for world cup events including the Boston Marathon. For fifteen years he was on the medical team for the Boston Celtics, and a clinical instructor in the Department of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School. He is past member of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Psychological Association, Chair of the NEBH Integrative Medicine Council, and co-chair of NEBH’s Institutional Review Board.
He did his undergraduate work at New York University, completed Masters studies in theology and received a Doctorate in Analytical Psychology & Clinical Studies at Andover-Newton, including advanced studies at the CG Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland. Shaunna Lattuca, PT, DPT, OCS

Shaunna is a Senior Physical Therapist in the Outpatient Department of Rehab Therapies at Boston Medical Center. She has worked at Boston Medical Center for more than 10 years, treating patients with various complex orthopedic injuries, mentoring staff physical therapists and providing evidenced-based clinical competency training to fellow physical therapists and students. Shaunna attained a doctoral degree in physical therapy from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions (MGH IHP), after which she began working at Boston Medical Center. During this time, she developed a passion for orthopedics and sports injuries. She furthered her education by completing a residency program in orthopedics and manual therapy at the MGH IHP, to become an advanced practitioner. Upon completion of this program, she passed the specialist exam and became a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist.

Dr. Xinning Li, Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Boston University School of Medicine and Team Physician for the Boston University athletics, has a strong clinical interest in both Sports Medicine and Shoulder & Elbow surgery. Dr. Li completed his first fellowship in Sports Medicine at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, a world-renowned sports medicine fellowship program and the #1 ranked orthopaedic hospital in the United States. Paul McCarthy is the Founder and Owner of Unity Surveillance & Investigations, LLC. Mr. McCarthy has worked in the insurance industry for the past 25 years. Throughout his career he has held several industry positions that include, Medical Fraud and Abuse Investigator, Claims Adjuster, surveillance investigator, SIU coordinator, and business owner. Paul founded Unity Surveillance & Investigations in December 2012 and his diverse experience and background has allowed him to assist numerous clients on local, regional and national levels. Cathy McKeever joined A.I.M. Mutual as a Senior Claim Specialist in August, 2008 and was promoted to her current position of Claim Supervisor in 2014. She began her insurance career with CIGNA in 1991 as a Claim Representative specializing in Massachusetts workers compensation claims. Prior to joining A.I.M. Mutual, she worked for MAC Risk Management for six years as a Senior Workers Compensation Claim Examiner handling Massachusetts and Connecticut claims.

Suzanne L. Miller, MD
Dr. Miller completed her medical school and her residency training at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York followed by a sports medicine fellowship at The University of Pittsburgh. She has a master’s degree from Columbia in Exercise Physiology.
